Meet Salima, a seasoned fitness specialist and wellness coach armed with a degree in Nutrition from Bastyr University. Dedicated to empowering women of all ages, Salima guides them on a transformative journey toward holistic fitness. Her philosophy revolves around the belief that prevention surpasses cure, a principle she embodies in her own life.
Salima’s resilience is evident in her personal health challenges. Faced with the prospect of knee surgery following the removal of her lateral meniscus, she opted for alternative practices and exercises, defying the orthopedic doctor’s suggestion of a knee replacement. Today, she not only thrives but lives an adventurous life, conquering peaks like Mt. Baker and Annapurna Base Camp.
Battling hypothyroidism, Salima rejected the notion of a lifetime on medication. Through lifestyle changes and a commitment to well-being, she successfully freed herself from the need for thyroid medication, proving the medical prognosis wrong.
With a multicultural and multilingual background, Salima fluently speaks five languages. Her early years in the remote and mystical cities of Lhasa, Tibet, Kathmandu-Nepal, New Delhi-India, and other southeast Asian cities shaped her unique perspective. Currently residing in Seattle, Washington, USA, Salima is not just a fitness enthusiast but a versatile adventurer—whether trekking, backpacking, skiing, dancing, or cycling.
A distinguished figure in the cycling community, Salima is a member of the Cascade cycling “Hall of Fame” and has completed over seven Seattle to Portland (STP) bike rides covering 206+ miles each. Her achievements extend beyond sports, as evidenced by her 2012 recognition as Gold’s Gym’s ‘Trainer of the Year.’
Salima’s impact on the fitness landscape is global. In 1997, she received the ‘Priyadarshini Award’ for Woman Entrepreneur of Nepal. It is a Southeast Asian Award for women entrepreneurs, which is a testament to her fitness business, Banu’s Total Fitness, in Kathmandu. Certified by ACE as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, Salima is also a certified yoga and meditation practitioner. She is also a certified instructor of Zumba and LesMills.
Passionate about sharing her well-being journey, Salima extends her reach through virtual well-being fitness programs. Her mission is clear: to empower women worldwide to attain physical, mental, and emotional strength, enabling them to embrace a life of quality and adventure at any age.
